New station to cater for Barrhead growth

Network Rail has revealed outline designs by Story Contracting for a new station in Barrhead serving the Neilston line.

Work is already underway to deliver Balgray Station on scrubland off Balgraystone Road, between Patterton and Neilston stations, in partnership with East Renfrewshire Council. Incorporating a bus terminal, active travel routes and a park-and-ride facility the station will be served by up to 36 trains per day each way.

East Renfrewshire Council Leader Owen O’Donnell said: “This station will bring huge benefits for the existing community in Barrhead as well as residents from the new housing developments nearby, providing improved access to jobs, education and services. It also allows for a much-improved public transport link to Dams to Darnley Country Park.”

A consultation on the new station design is due to take place on 12 December.

I don't think I've ever seen such a half finished CGI. The positioning of the cars on the road just add to the 'quick...get it out the door' feel.

Lol I like the road ripples - real dukes of hazard stuff there.
