Penicuik social housing development delivers 57 homes

Penicuik has received 57 new affordable homes as part of the 500 home Mauricewood masterplan for the northern outskirts of the Midlothian town.

Delivered in partnership between Cala Homes and Wheatley Group the energy efficient development comprises 16 cottage flats, 13 terraced properties and 28 flats, each with a minimum EPC B rating and access to electric vehicle charging points.

Craig Lynes, managing director for Cala Homes (East), commented: “We are delighted to see this development come to life which sits within a well-connected and peaceful environment, and to see the new residents call these properties their homes. Cala and Wheatley have worked hard on this project for the past two and a half years – from planning right through to the final handover.

“Our collective focus was delivering high quality, tenure-blind social rented accommodation and we are delighted this has been achieved.”

The development was supported by a £3.9m grant from the Scottish Government.

I’d still be very happy and proud to call this home.
