Twin lift towers to bolster accessibility at Anniesland Station

Anniesland Station is the latest stop to benefit from Network Rail's accessibility improvement plan with the installation of twin lift towers.

Offering direct access to Great Western Road both towers will connect to their respective platforms by a connecting walkway with a retaining wall formed around each shaft.

Story Contracting will deliver the lifts, denoted at street level vertical concrete feature pilasters and signage.

Clad in a grey panel system aboe a red brick base to match existing the new look station entrance will flank an existing railway bridge.

This follows a series of similar interventions across the rail network, most recently at Kingussie

The canopies over the entrance aren't going to help much. These station platforms around Glasgow are open to the weather which is often bad. They need to be covered if you are going to encourage people on to this form of public transport.

I wonder how you cut the grass either side of the bridge, and do it without spraying grass all over pedestrians.

This is great news. I’ve been waiting for years for some kind of ramp access to be installed to platform 2. The stairs on this side are so steep. This will be so helpful for those with prams or mobility issues.
