'Gateway' project to push Falkirk eastward

Falkirk Council has signed a development agreement with Hargreaves Land and Fintry Estates to progress a £100m mixed-use project.

Falkirk Gateway will provide a range of 100 homes, a 120-bed hotel and leisure outlets on the eastern outskirts of the town, adjoining the recently completed Forth Valley College.

A planning application is expected later this summer, setting out how the 27-acre site can be developed to include 120,000sq/ft of commercial floorspace, subject to road improvements. Subject to approval work could commence on site by the latter half of 2024 for completion in 2026.

Falkirk Council has been promoting the scheme since 2016 as a means to attract inward investment through a tax incremental finance initiative.

I love the use of quotation marks on the word “gateway”, here. They say “car park” to me.

Ideal. 15-minute driving city, best place to live, right?
