Hundreds more student flats to address a worsening rental crunch

A formal planning application to deliver 288 student flats on the corner of Osborne Street and Old Wynd in Glasgow city centre has been filed by Ambassador Group.

Nova has been drawn up by Mosaic Architecture + Design to enhance the student experience with a community lounge, co-working space and gym all on hand.

Ahsan Afzal, head of development for Nova Living at Ambassador Group, said: “The site has lain vacant for many years, and we are keen to reinvigorate the area and radically improve Old Wynd Lane currently deemed locally to be unsightly and unsafe.

“We are seeing 23% less available rental stock than pre-covid times which is making it very challenging for all renters, including students, to secure accommodation.”

Tenants will also have access to a private rooftop dining facility as part of a landscaped amenity deck with discussions underway with arts charity WASPS to commission site-specific artwork.
