£40m Stirling whisky warehouse takes shape

Ian MacLeod Distillers have revealed plans for a whisky warehouse at Bandeath Industrial Estate, Throsk, near to the River Forth.

The modern storage facility comprises nine warehouses to store whisky casks awaiting maturity, together with a blend centre, tank farm and office.

Sprawling over 20 acres the facility will store whiskies from Rosebank in Falkirk, Glengoyne in Stirlingshire and Tamdhu in Knockando on Speysidem before onward transfer to a bottling plant in Broxburn.

Ian MacLeod managing director Leonard Russell commented: “We are delighted to be submitting this planning application for new whisky storage facilities at Bandeath, which will provide additional capacity for our operations across Scotland. The new facility will further secure our spirit supply chain and have a clear beneficial impact on both the local and the national economy."

The £40m complex has been designed by Michael Laird Architects

Excellent, looks like a well thought-through scheme with careful massing and detailing. Good to see something constructive happening at Bandeath, where most of the Royal Navy depot buildings have been abandoned to the grazing sheep.
