Queen Margaret University air plans for a food & drink innovation hub

Queen Margaret University has filed detailed plans for a dedicated innovation hub to anchor a huge new campus at Craighall, adjacent to the university's Edinburgh home.

East Lothian Council is being asked to consider plans by Oberlanders for the flagship build, intended to support and nurture food and drink businesses in the city region.

Combining research laboratories and office space the hub aims to encourage further expansion of the fast-growing sector.

Sir Paul Grice, principal of Queen Margaret University, said: “The Hub will support research, innovation and growth, particularly in the food and drink sector, which is hugely important for East Lothian, building on its title of Scotland’s food & drink county."

Craighall will eventually be home to a mixed-use development comprising homes, a primary school, commercial activities and community assets.

Really? It looks like a 1970’s low rise but multi storey car park built around a huge parking area. Hell on earth.

The irony of calling it an "innovation hub"

As dull as this new proposal looks, its a damn sight better than the rest of that campus which has to be up there as one of the worst things produced in recent times.

Well at least it responds to its context. Also agree with #4, i.e., it's among the worst places produced in recent times. Quite an achievement.
