West Kilbride gap site offers new homes an elevated vantage

Plans to build a new apartment block in Seamill, West Kilbride, have been drawn up, boasting elevated views from the North Ayrshire coast across the Firth of Clyde.

The brownfield site at 15 Ardrossan Road has been purchased by John Wright Properties who have commissioned Atelier M to draft proposals for 10 flats and shared amenity space.

Previously home to the Galleon Inn Hotel, demolished in 2014, the exposed site will employ winter gardens, balconies and terraces to provide residents with an all-weather vista.

In a design document, the architects wrote: "The apartments strive to continue formal and traditional facade styles of West Kilbride, while managing to exploit the spectacular westerly views through high levels of glazing when facing away from the street."

Incorporating undercroft parking and a green roof the block is to be finished in profiled copper, stone and render.

Some horrendous flat types.
Makes you wonder if the person designing them has ever lived in a home before.
