Glasgow distiller's outreach push to deliver a 636sq/m creative hub

Distiller John Dewar & Sons have revealed their intent to build a 636 sq/m creative hub to showcase the Scotch Whisky brand to invited guests.

Set within the grounds of their Glasgow plant at 1700 London Road the two-storey building has been designed by Michael Laird Architects to serve as an arrival space, nosing room and experiential environment.

Incorporating staff workspaces on the upper floor with a fully glazed front elevation, the building will also include meeting rooms, offices and storage.

Supporting landscaping works will be employed to soften the active industrial environs.

Finished in black metal sinusoidal cladding with perforated metal panels the space includes a double-height main entrance and a separate refuse and bike store.

How about a full scale visitor centre open to the general public?

Whisky is high fashion at the moment and the company should not be embarrassed by its Glesga location.
