Next generation Arran council homes welcome first tenants

North Ayrshire Council has welcomed tenants to the first new council homes to complete on Arran in over two decades.

Delivered by Ashleigh and Hub South West the 'back to back' housing stands on the edge of Brodick on land partly occupied by an electrical substation off Brathwic Terrace.

Steep topography has necessitated that homes be arranged across two landscaped tiers separated by a central retaining wall, with distinctive pitched roof homes intended to evoke traditional rural architecture.

Designed by Mast Architects the £6.8m development includes a mix of 34 properties including wheelchair-accessible homes and amenity bungalows.

All properties are finished in dark grey Cedral cladding and light-coloured brick.
