CALA Homes (West) and 7N Architects are offering Cathcart locals the first glimpse of its plans for hundreds of homes at a historic pump engineering works on land bounded by Inverlair Avenue, Newlands Road and Spean Street.

Weirs Works will entail the partial redevelopment of redundant factory buildings, complementing the recent conversion of Cathcart House, while introducing pedestrian-friendly cycle routes.

In a statement, the applicant wrote: "The proposed development of circa 300 sustainable apartments are being designed to maximise amenity space whilst incorporating pedestrian cycle-friendly routes where possible.

"Our proposals will include shared and private open spaces that will be landscaped and integrate seating areas and parking within the design."

The consultation will take place in the gym hall of Celeros Flow Technology's office at 149 Newlands Road on Thursday between 18:00 and 20:00.

A planning application is then expected to follow in February, ahead of a site start by winter next year.

Excited about this development. Main concern is about school facilities with local schools already full.
