52 lifetime homes delivered in Troon

Ayrshire Housing has delivered 54 affordable houses and cottage flats in Troon as part of an £8m energy-efficient development.

Built to 'lifetime home' principles the properties incorporate flexible layouts, triple glazing and swift bricks to provide nesting places for local wildlife.

Developed in conjunction with South Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership the homes are designed to be readily adaptable to the changing needs of occupants.

Ayrshire Housing chair, Simon Leslie commented: "This development was made possible by the South Ayrshire Council's affordable housing policy. We were also pleased to work closely with Lynch Homes in realising the project within the overall master plan for northeast Troon.

"A grant from the Scottish Government of over £4m has ensured that the rents are affordable now and in the coming years. The balance of our costs is being funded from Government facilitated bond finance through the specialist lender, Allia."

The project team includes Cruden, ARPL, McColm, Langmuir and Hay.

Open outside stairs -- thought that was history?

Economics look very shaky -- half the cost is grant funding.

How sustainable is that?
