Former Aberdeen school to make way for 30 affordable homes

Halliday Fraser Munro, acting on behalf of Malcolm Allan Housebuilders, has drawn up plans for 30 affordable homes on the site of a former Aberdeen school.

Brownfield land at the former Braeside Primary School has been earmarked for the build, with accommodation arranged around two 'green fingers' extending from a retained green space and play park.

Accessed via a new spine road off Braeside Place the development will incorporate a range of semi-detached and terraced properties of between three and four bedrooms with a minimum footprint of 86sq/m.

In a statement, the applicant wrote: "The initial concept focused on frontages to ensure privacy for all existing surrounding buildings was retained and passive surveillance was created over the open spaces throughout and around the site. A spine road approach was taken due to the constraints and to ensure a maximised layout was created with less hardstanding.

"This approach also allows for direct pedestrian connections between the play park to the south and the development without the need to cross roads."

The design team includes Fairhurst and Astell Associates.
