Norr head Montrose innovation park design team

A delivery team comprising Norr, Turner & Townsend, Cundall and Ironside Farrar has been appointed by Crown Estate Scotland to deliver an Angus innovation park.

Montrose ZeroFour is heralded as a centre for green economic growth and will transform a 123-acre coastal site into a green energy hub.

Jamie Macfarlane, built development manager for Crown Estate Scotland, said: “ZeroFour is perfectly positioned to support the burgeoning offshore wind sector and wider blue economy.

“We want to offer a great location for companies looking to create, innovate and thrive in the blue and green economies as well as those who simply want a greener and more sustainable base for their business.”

Hosting a variety of spaces from start-up offices to research and development labs and large-scale manufacturing workshops the estate will also make provision for amenity space and a hotel.

Located on a former military airfield preparatory infrastructure works will get underway this winter and includes the preservation of heritage features.

Real innovation would be using brownfield sites in the town...

I don't think there are any brownfield sites in Montrose... Glaxo might have some land, but given recent investments in the site, I can't see them giving up any. This is planned for the old Aerodrome, which is as close as you'll get to brownfield there.
