3DReid take the helm of a £40m Motherwell logistics hub

Burgeoning demand for large-scale warehousing in the central belt has given rise to plans for a £40m logistics hub at Newarthill, Motherwell.

XPO Logistics with 3DReid has filed a planning application for a 300,000sq/ft storage and distribution facility with associated offices on a site bounded by Edinburgh Road and Legbrannock Road.

With direct access to the M8, the site is ideally positioned to cater for the surging demands of e-commerce with a modern warehouse designed to achieve net zero carbon operations through features such as roof-mounted solar panels.

The main facade will be finished in dark grey brick with a glazed entrance framed by bronze metal. An associated car park will provide space for 229 vehicles.

Only a third of the 40-acre site will be built on with the remainder reserved for biodiversity and public access improvements.

The warehouse is promoted as being 100% carbon neutral
