TK Maxx set up shop in Edinburgh
Retailer TK Maxx has become the first tenant to occupy a £75m office-led development at St Andrews Square, Edinburgh, taking three floors off South St David Street.

The CDA and Hoskins Architects designed project, delivered on behalf of Standard Life Assurance, controversially led to the demolition of the B-listed Scottish Provident building by Kinimouth & Paul.

In its place a giant block of limestone and bronze has been raised on the corner site with a central colonnade intended to echo the previous structure.

Full completion is expected by the end of the year.

This is such a disappointment. The business oak style curtian walling and TKmax medallion being particular low points.
Not good enough...

After some trepidation, I think, once it's all finished, it'll be quite a nice building.
One wee annoyance I can spot though, from the second picture in particular, are the two sign supports that stick out from the gold fins and kind of jar visually, surely they can do something about that, so that you only notice the sign, which would look really smart.

It's not quite as bad as I expected now it's almost finished, but it's still a bit 'bling' for St. Andrews Square. Looks like it was designed by Kim Kardashian.

good to see a 'top drawer' retailer on this prominent Site.
Hopefully this will anchor a new retail oasis, with Poundland, a mega-Greggs, a Primark, and a bookies or two.
