Fraserburgh Community Hub plans to go before planners
Designs for a new community hub for Fraserburgh are to go before Aberdeenshire Council’s policy & resources committee on 15 November in order to approve the scope of the work and sign off an estimated £3.76m construction bill.

Designed in-house by Aberdeenshire Council the project will be integrated within the towns Westfield School which will be significantly upgraded to incorporates a family resource centre, community facilities and an outdoor play and learning centre.

These will offer support for children or others with additional support needs and follows on from construction of a new leisure centre.

Ultimately the hub will accommodate the council’s education and social work services which support vulnerable children and young people in the community.

Should approval be forthcoming work could start as early as May 2013 for completion by March 2014.

Separate planning applications have still to be submitted for improvements to the school and installation of a biomass boiler.
