Cairngorms National Park welcomes its first hospital

NHS Highland has completed work on the first of two planned community hospital's in the region, a £20m facility in Aviemore.

Badenoch and Strathspey Community Hospital is the first new hospital to be built in the Cairngorms National Park and will centralise existing services available in Grantown-on-Spey and Kingussie.

Housing 24 inpatient beds, 12 consulting/treatment rooms, a minor injuries unit, outpatients, physiotherapy, NHS dental suite, GP services, x-ray facilities the hospital also serves as a base for the Scottish Ambulance Service.

Delivered by contractor Balfour Beatty with Oberlanders Architects and Rural Design the 120 room hospital has been fitted out by furniture specialists Deanestor.

The Broadford Hospital on the Isle of Skye has been designed in tandem and is currently undergoing a final fit-out.
