Terraces bring affordable homes to Paisley

Work has been completed on the development of 23 affordable homes at St Ninian's Crescent in Paisley on behalf of Link Group.

Delivered by the JR Group with Renfrewshire Council and Hypostyle Architects the work comprises a mix of 19 houses and four cottage flats, all of which are occupied.

Built on brownfield land latterly adopted by the local community as an informal route between shops on Rowan Street and St Ninian's Road the project maintains this access with improved landscaping.

Link Group commercial director Colin Culross said: “We’re delighted to see the difference these modern, high-quality family homes are already making to people’s lives, particularly at a time when there is a gap in the market for affordable rented properties.

“Link worked closely with Renfrewshire Council and Hypostyle Architects to develop an innovative design concept which enabled the delivery of 23 homes on a challenging site.

As part of the project, the contractor worked with Paisley South Church to supply and install war memorial panels.

A great little development. Simple site layout and clever housetype plan/arrangements. Well proportioned buildings with a simple palette of materials that works well. Congratulations to all involved.

#2 why would you use a pavement when you can go everywhere in an audi?

To be fair, this is quite a nice scheme. It would be interested to understand a bit about the economics of the project.
The use of land looks quite efficient for the houses, but the surrounding significant amount of road looks a little baggy.
Also a bit concerned for the potential for overheating in the terraces as the only seem to have windows to the south east and south west.

Access to private transport in affordable rented households is rarely above 25% in urban areas so why provide over 200% car storage?
#7 description as 'quite a nice scheme' seems appropriate if interpreted as 'damned with faint praise.'

Is that a wee nuclear bunker in the back garden of that hoose across the way?
