Dennistoun demand fuels 36 flat bid on long-standing gap site

Scotia Capital Partners has secured a 2,900sq/m development plot off Cumbernauld Road, Dennistoun, for 36 apartments spread over two adjoining blocks - superceding earlier plans for a 48-apartment scheme.

The long-standing gap-site has become subject to fly-tipping the build will harness the natural fall of the land to provide undercroft parking, a cycle store and private garages off a lower level at 37 Birkenshaw Street, topped by an access deck and four floors of accommodation.

In a statement, Scotia Capital Partners wrote: "The proposed exclusive development is for 36No. 1 and 2 bedroom attractive, modern, well-designed, energy-efficient, apartments with 100% allocated parking. The proposed development will complement and contribute to the local area providing additional high-quality apartments that meet demand.

"The development will also bring significant economic, social & community benefits through the delivery process."

A mix of one and two-bedroom apartments will rise from pavement level at Cumbernauld Road with facades finished in buff brick matched with neighbouring tenements to designs by Jewitt & Wilkie Architects.
