Dennistoun apartments take their cue from a B-listed Snooker hall
November 24 2021
A B-listed former Dennistoun snooker hall is to be transformed into flats through the erection of a three-storey rear extension.
Craigpark Snooker Club is housed behind a listed frontage onto Craigpark, with the main hall extending over 0.14ha of land to the rear.
Proposals by EMA call for the demolition of the hall to permit the renovation and extension of the main building to provide 11 apartments with the eastern portion of the site left as gardens.
In a statement, the architects said: "The blonde sandstone of the existing building will be complemented by the high-quality buff brick used for the extension. The transition between existing and proposed will be defined by lightweight curtain walling.
"The site is located in the inner urban area and has a density of 78 dwellings per hectare (DPH), which sits comfortably within the 30-100 DPH range for the area type."
164-166 Craigpark previously operated as a bath house.
