Pitched roof Maybole blocks to deliver 22 homes

Ayrshire Housing has lodged a planning application for 22 houses at Queen's terrace on the outskirts of Maybole, South Ayrshire.

Designed by Do-Architecture, with assistance from McColm Civil and Structural Engineers and Thomson Cost Consultants, the project is broken down into two linear strips of accommodation with strong pitched roofs inspired by the local context.

Subservient pitched forms housing communal or split entrances will conjoin adjacent apartments to form 10 'blocks' grouped around a sequence of courtyards.

Ayrshire Housing director Jim Whiston said: “The association’s first new-build project was in Maybole over 25 years ago and the town has always been a focus for our work. Hopefully, this latest development will be as well-received as the nearby Burns Wynd which received a Saltire Housing Design award in 2014. We are grateful for the continued support of South Ayrshire Council with whom we have liaised on the housing mix”.

All homes are built around a central kitchen/toilet core allowing bedrooms to be positioned to the front and rear.

Charming hamlet next to the busy bypass. What else do you need?
