Gartcosh, Glenmavis & Wester Moffat shortlisted for new Monklands hospital
February 12 2020
NHS Lanarkshire has begun the process of delivering a new University Hospital Monklands with the launch of a series of engagement events for the public and staff.
This will provide an opportunity to provide feedback on a shortlist of three potential sites for the build at Gartcosh, Glenmavis and Wester Moffat ahead of a full site evaluation process.
Project director Graeme Reid said: “We’re publishing a set of detailed information about each of the three shortlisted sites to ensure the public and our staff have as much information as possible to help them to get involved.
“Over the coming days, we will publish further information, covering site history, site conditions, site groundwork/remediation costs, road infrastructure costs and construction costs.”
The current Monklands Hospital in Airdrie is considered to be nearing the end of its operational life with regular mechanical and electrical failures compounded by a layout which is not conducive to modern standards of care.
The technical team appointed to oversee the delivery of the new hospital includes Keppie Design; WSP; TUV SUD and Currie & Brown.
