NHS Grampian progress £53m Forresterhill care centre

NHS Grampian has filed plans for a £53m elective care centre adjacent to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary to provide ‘one-stop’ patient services.

A submission by Mackie Ramsay Taylor Architects calls for a four-storey solution clad in smooth render and composite cladding, meeting the wider Forresterhill campus by an external entrance courtyard.

Arranged around a separate internal courtyard the facility will be built on grassland off Forresterhill Road, connected directly to established hospital buildings.

Landscaping undertaken by Astell Associates will introduce a wildflower meadow and a ‘Daffodil hill’ to help frame a pedestrian connection to multi-storey car parking.

Construction should begin next year for completion by 2021.
