Kinross Town Hall has resumed its place at the heart of the towns High Street following its £1.5m conversion to nine apartments.

Abandoned by Perth & Kinross Council in 2003 the local landmark had lain empty for over a decade before being brought back to life following a 12-month refurbishment programme.

The clock tower, post office and library have each been subdivided to form a variety of townhouses and flats earmarked for first time buyers and downsizers.

Development manager Simon Leeman, commented: “We are delighted to have brought back to life a significant historical building group that has played such an important role to Kinross.

“The nature of this development, with the location and character of the building, has helped to create a distinct form of urban town living.”

Design work for the conversion was undertaken by Edinburgh MI.

Great stuff - it is nice to see a locally important building brought back into use.

Not sure what is 'locally important' about a charmless and cheaply built 19th C town hall. The Carnegie Library' (the southmost element of the 3 buildings) would be refused planning today as being of excessive size for the site.
An open plaza, a focal point for Kinross, would have been a better option, than flats with zero parking facilities or outdoor space.
Too much reverence is afforded to obsolete, energy inefficient buildings.
