Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park has proven to be a fertile hunting ground for linearchitecture with this week’s opening of a mountainside hunting lodge.

Overcoming complex planning challenges the practice and the worst that mother nature could throw at it following a wet spring and heavy snow the team have delivered a Russwood Scotlarch clad nod to agricultural architecture, painted grey and positioned under a green roof to sit harmoniously within the natural landscape.

In a statement Linearchitecture said: “The materiality of the project was key to its visual integration into the landscape. Russwood were very knowledgeable about their products and patiently assisted us in varying our specification until it was balanced with what we were trying to achieve.”

Wrapping around an exposed galvanised steel frame Monachyle Beag carries echoes of a traditional barn externally while a ‘building within a building’ tucked underneath employs large areas of glazing to make the most of spectacular surrounding scenery.

A hunting lodge? really... ffs... I can't wait to get involved in some serious bloodsport.

OMG -- that is bad and then some.

Looks like a mutant, mechanical ant trying to consume a slug.

I appreciate that their might have been cost pressures in the build but it looks humphy.

Blot on the landscape bad to all but passing trans-Atlantic jets -- the stilts just kill it stone dead.

Boke. Sorry, I think I was a little bit sick in my mouth there.

Look at that gorgeous inspiring landscape. They couldn't come up with anything nicer than a garden shed mounting a lockup? No wonder they had a planning battle on their hands - presumably it was economic/operational need that swung it.
