Scone assisted living proposal caters for over 55’s

Juniper Residential are behind plans to build an assisted living complex at Angus Road, Scone, which will deliver 55 one and two apartments upon completion.

The Wheel Inn has been designed by ID Partnership to provide a ‘hotel-like’ environment for residents and guests with two separate blocks set within landscaped grounds.

To reduce the scale and mass of the elevations IDP have pursued a post and lintel solution with the spaces between filled with habitable spaces. In a statement the architects explained: “The space between the building skin and trabeated structure can then be utilised as either balconies or infilled to create larger apartments while not increasing the appearance of the mass of the buildings.

“These structures do not extend to the full height of the building allowing the massing of the building to then be broken up. The proposed design is based upon a grid that steps in and out which lessens the impact of the massing horizontally across the elevation.”

Finished in buff brick with areas of accent render the build will also include a communal lounge and office space.
