RIAS recognise Queensferry Crossing designer with honorary fellowship
The RIAS bestowed an honorary fellowship on Arup architect and engineer Naeem Hussain Hon FRIAS in recognition of his work in designing the recently inaugurated Queensferry Crossing.

Handed only to those judged to have made an outstanding contribution to arts, literature, music, science, contribution and to the public life, or to international architects, the award recognises the singular achievement in creating a unique three-tower cable stay bridge.

RIAS president, Stewart Henderson commented: “Naeem has made a significant contribution to the design of iconic bridge structures throughout the world, including the new Queensferry Crossing.”

Described as a ‘blade of light’ and an achievement appreciated throughout the world the £1.35bn crossing was officially unveiled by The Queen in September last year.
