Twin hotels on the cards for disused Dundee jute mills

Developed in partnership between InterContinental Hotels Group and Percor Capital the work will retain the industrial character of the site, including a bell tower modelled on Venice’s Santa Maria della Salute, with contemporary interior design.
Hotel Indigo will offer 102 rooms while a companion Staybridge Suites will provide a further 85 rooms for guests when both projects complete in 2018, catering for an expected visitor influx for the V&A Museum.
Rob Corlett, director of Percor Capital, commented: “Our aim throughout, has been to ensure that the entire site became fully used for the first time in nearly 40 years whilst maintaining the historic internal and external features of the Mill.
“Dundee City Council have been exceptionally helpful and supportive of our plans as we all strived to preserve a Grade A listed building of historical significance within the local community.”
Public areas in Hotel Indigo will pay homage to Dundee’s historic reputation for jam, jute and journalism while a dedicated games section will bring guests up to speed with some of the latest videogames to be developed in the city.
Staybridge Suites will cater of longer-term guests in the form of studio and one-bed apartments with their own study and kitchen facilities together with shops, a communal lounge and laundry.
