April 3 2017206-home masterplan for 11 hectares of land at Wallaceneuk Farm on the south-western fringe of Kelso.
The open field will be connected to Jedburgh Road and the town bypass to facilitate access with the masterplan itself following the principles laid down in ‘Designing Streets’. This will plug the estate into an existing network of footpaths around a central green with homes clad in slate effect fibre cement tiles, coloured render, composite timber and zinc-clad dormers.
In their design statement Camerons observed: “The design approach with regards to the housing takes the lead from the traditional vernacular form; whilst providing a contemporary design and living environment.
“Traditionally sized openings form the main body of the street elevations, and various compositions and feature colour render provide the modern layer to draw you around the site through its variety: giving each area a distinct, yet harmonised feel. Large areas of ground floor glazing address the gardens of each property; connecting the inside with the beautiful setting and outdoor space.”
The masterplan is conceived as a series of distinct zones signified by differing use of tarmac and block pavers.
