Edinburgh primary schools benefit from £4.2m investment
May 13 2015
The latest investment brings to 11 the number of replaced and extended nurseries in the city following a previous £5.7m tranche of investment in nurseries at Longstone, Duddingston, Wardie, Davidson’s Mains, Corstorphine, Fox Covert and new St John’s RC Primary’s – as well as Granton Early Years Centre.
Tynecastle Nursery head teacher Stella Brown remarked: “A nursery for young children is about the whole environment, indoors and out. The current site is a very important green space where children play and learn outdoors, benefiting from fresh air and energetic play every day.
“In a city centre nursery, placing value on the improved building whilst maintaining the ‘oasis’ outdoors is vital. I am sure the new building will be an outstanding facility for future generations in Gorgie and Dalry.”
