Leith Walk eyesore razed ahead of redevelopment
A prominent eyesore on Edinburgh’s Leith Walk has been demolished in order to clear the way for new housing and student flats.

Ziggurat Student Living will deliver 260 student rooms on the footprint of the old Shrubhill House, including ground floor commercial units, by September 2015.

An adjacent scheme from the administrators for collapsed property firm Frasers Hamilton (Shrubhill) Ltd will see EMA Architects deliver 160 houses on the former tram depot to the rear. This would retain the B-listed depot walls and chimneys with the addition of flats and Colony style housing.

It followed abandoned plans to bring a Frasers Suites serviced apartments scheme to the plot, designed by Broadway Malyan.
Development of the site has been stalled since 2006
