Parkhead multis to be transformed into Glasgow XX towers for Games
June 5 2014
Glasgow’s very own twin towers are to be given a Commonwealth Games makeover in time for this summer’s sporting spectacle with their transformation into a giant advertising billboard. The appropriately named Blowup media have unveiled plans to rebrand the derelict council blocks as the Glasgow XX Towers, erecting two giant displays measuring 20m x 40m each to dominate the surrounding skyline.
From there they will become a prominent landmark for more than 1.4m people not to mention an estimated third of the global population who will be watching the event on TV.
Aimee McKay. sales director of blowUP media UK, says: “The Commonwealth Games are one of the world’s biggest sporting events, and the Towers will deliver unrivalled scale, impact and brand presence to an enormous audience. We expect considerable interest from advertisers, especially from leisure, sports, drinks, phone and automotive brands.”
The towers will be made available to advertisers for a period of six weeks around the Games calendar from 23 July – 3 August.

Please don't, or if you do could all money raised be utilised for the refurbishment of the towers into a mixed amenity, work, cultural, living space that explores the unrealised potential of the high rise typology. I find these two towers really beautiful in terms of mass and form if not materiality
