Advance works underway at Alford Community Campus
December 4 2013
Part of a £102m capital spending programme by Aberdeenshire Council in 2013/2014 the project will replace the towns existing Alford Primary and Alford Academy which have been oversubscribed by pupils.
Designed by Halliday Fraser Munro and built by Miller Construction on behalf the scheme will cater for 325 primary and 640 secondary pupils and includes a gym, theatre, sports hall, dance studio and playing fields.
A range of community facilities will also be provided, including a swimming pool, library and accommodation for Aberdeenshire Council’s community learning and development team.
Chair of the policy and resources committee, councillor Jim Gifford, said: “This capital plan is one of the most ambitious programmes of new build and improvements works that the council has undertaken in recent years and I am pleased to see that, on the whole, works are progressing on schedule and to budget.”
The new campus will open its doors to pupils in August 2015.
