Morrison Construction named preferred contractor for North Lanarkshire schools
Morrison Construction has been named as the preferred contractor to build twin Archial designed schools campuses in North Lanarkshire as part of a Scottish Government backed construction programme.

The work will see a replacement Greenfaulds High built in Cumbernauld at a cost of £26.5m; whilst a new Clyde Valley Schools campus will rise in tandem to the south in Wishaw, valued at up to £23.2m.

Clyde Valley will provide capacity for up to 1,018 pupils relocated from the existing Overtown and Castlehill primaries on the site of the existing Clyde Valley High. A nursery and language centre also feature in the plans alongside full-size synthetic pitches, a central assembly hall and an outdoor amphitheatre.

Greenfaulds meanwhile will have capacity for 1,350 pupils.

Greg Fitzgerald, chief executive of Galliford Try (Morrison’s parent company) commented: “We look forward to successfully delivering both projects for our client and wider stakeholders, and in turn providing pupils, teachers and the communities in North Lanarkshire with an enhanced built environment and improved facilities.”

A pre-planning consultation on the schools concludes on 5 November with both expected to welcome their first students by early 2016.
