Maxwellton Primary and Greenburn School was completed by Kier Construction and incorporates 16 classrooms arranged over two levels alongside a range of therapy rooms, a sensory room, soft play areas and hydrotherapy pool.
Designed by Stallan-Brand the school is finished in a palette of neutral colours and muted graphics the new campus is intended to create a peaceful atmosphere for pupils.
Maxwellton Primary head teacher, Jan McLaren said: “I keep telling everyone that a school is not a building, it is much more than that. But a great school in a beautiful new building and learning environment is about as good as it gets.”
Demolition work will now commence on old school buildings adjacent to the new build, with the ground then landscaped.
