‘We Dundee’ seeks UK City of Culture 2017 vision
Dundonians are being asked for their input to help formalise a vision for the city’s bid to be crowned UK City of Culture 2017.

We Dundee’ is soliciting opinion on how the city should position itself in four years’ time following its selection on the competition shortlist, inviting participants to respond to the question; ‘In 2017 I would love to see…’

This has drawn 260 wide ranging responses so far; including canoe races on the Tay, a mass release of Chinese lanterns and an exhibition documenting the whaling industry.

Stewart Murdoch, chairman of the Dundee bid group, said: "The depth and range of contribution from so many members of the public in phase one was astonishing and genuinely impressed the city of culture judges, and I'm sure this next phase will be just as effective.

"It's a competition so we can't always give too much away, but there's no doubt that the bid's secret weapon is the creativity and imagination of the city's people. I'm really looking forward to seeing the ideas come in over the next month. "

A cultural programme needs to be put in place by 30 September before a final presentation is made to judges in mid-November - ahead of an announcement of the winner by the end of the month
