Borders rail link plans go on public display
Contractors working on a new rail link connecting the Borders with Edinburgh are to stage a series of public consultations following the commencement of construction work on the new rail route.

Members of the public will be able to quiz the design team on the detailed plans for the £220m project at the events, which will take place at six locations along the planned route.

BAM Nuttall is the main contractor for the project after winning the contract from Network Rail and is presently engaged with earthworks around the Monktonhall area.

When complete the new line will stretch some 30 miles with seven new stations at Shawfair, Eskbank, Newtongrange, Gorebridge, Stow, Galashiels and Tweedbank.

•    Thursday, 13 June (4-7pm) Galashiels Rugby Club
•    Monday, 17 June (1-7pm) Old Gala House, Galashiels
•    Tuesday, 18 June (4-7pm) Macfie Hall, Heriot
