The latest addition to the School’s expanding Garnethill campus will require a £10m funding gap to be plugged via public donations and sponsorship.
If successful it will see the existing ‘sub-standard building', which has been deemed surplus to requirements, swept away to make way for a 4,300sq/m new build facility for post-graduates and new research.
GSA director Professor Seona Reid, said: "Research, knowledge exchange and the Graduate School are currently areas of significant development at the GSA.
"As well as offering greatly enhanced facilities for existing researchers and postgraduate programmes, the new Graduate and Research Centre will help the GSA realise its ambitious growth plans in these areas."
No plans will be commissioned until 2013 at the earliest with the scheme projected to move on site by 2016.
