This was refused on grounds it would lead to the loss of native Scots Pine and Norway Spruce – a vital habitat for red squirrels.
Developer Frank Burnett Ltd is intent on building a 75 room hotel, 80 homes, business units and leisure facilities on the existing championship course.
Frank Burnett’s chairman, Stan Troup, said: “As we have stated before, we respected the views of the councillors last time, but we were disappointed with the decision.
“During that period, we have addressed a number of matters with specific reference to the various planning issues raised by the council and discussed the same with our professional advisers.
Halliday Fraser Munro are acting as architects for the scheme.
