River Clyde Homes were responsible for the demolition, plumping for the graveyard shift in order to avoid imperilling commuters on the Wemyss Bay rail line.
It took a mere four seconds for gravity to do its work leaving nothing but a mound of crumpled detritus for assembled onlookers to gawk at.
This will now be cleared by the developer to facilitate construction of 14 terraced and detached homes, far fewer than the 102 flats formerly stacked above the site.
The demolition is the latest in the town to bite the dust and follows three others on Belville Street alone; Kelso Court, Langholm and Jedburgh Courts and leaves just four blocks remaining; Hawick, Selkirk, Peebles and Melrose Courts currently remain.
