This will see a master planning exercise conducted for the historic site in support of an application for Heritage Lottery funding.
Two options are currently on the table for the 1927 hall the first of which would see GCC support an enhanced community sports centre within the structure and provide a basic museum store.
A second proposal under consideration would entail a partnership with the University of Glasgow to deliver all the benefits of option plus additional enhancements including a joint museum research facility and a larger health and fitness suite, including five a side football pitches.
Investigations remain in train as to the possibility of staging Commonwealth Games boxing events at the venue, a decision on which will be made by year’s end.
