Hadid's Transport Museum takes shape
Photographer Ben Cooper has photographed Glasgow’s under construction transport museum and emerged with a preview of the under construction interior beneath that undulating canopy.

Describing the space as “stunning” Cooper has documented the rapid rate of progress on the structure now that Buro Happold have successfully engineered the complex column free roof without recourse to structural columns.

The long process of internal fit out will continue over the year including the construction of three artificial “streets”, designed to represent key eras in Glasgow’s history.

Centrepiece of the build will be the tall ship Glenlee which is to be permanently berthed on the Clyde as focal and historical counterpoint point to the hi tech new look

Fashioned by the idiosyncratic Zaha Hadid the space will house Glasgow’s extensive collection of transport memorabilia when opened in Spring 2011.

Much work remains to fashion and populate the interior
