Government goes to town on regeneration fund
Fresh detail has been published on the make up of the Scottish Government’s £60m town centre regeneration fund.

Eligible bodies for the cash, designed to regenerate local high streets, have been revealed as firms, voluntary bodies, councils and local chambers of commerce.

Applicants will be subject to assessment by independent panel of the economic, social and environmental benefits they can deliver before a recommendation is delivered to ministers.

Communities Minister Alex Neil hopes the monies can complement efforts already underway to support town centres.

It is expected that the fund will be put to use in the remediation of contaminated land, renovating stonework and creating community facilities.
