“Portrait of the Nation” will utilise new media and sensory experiences to engage visitors whilst doubling the amount of gallery space on offer.
This increased space will be put to use in the display of many more portraits and photographs and allow an education suite, auditorium, IT gallery and research centre to be accommodated.
The Scottish National Portrait Gallery will close on Sunday 5 April in order to start the refurbishment, hosting The Farewell Festival over that weekend.
