House of Frasers

February 9 2009

House of Frasers
RMJM and Frasers Property, the development arm of Singapore conglomerate Fraser & Neave, have submitted a recession busting plan for 327 flats for a site bounded by Carrick and Brown Streets on the western extremity of the IFSD, Glasgow.

Private and serviced dwellings form around two buildings of unified design, these cantilever out over adjacent roads and increase in height from south to north. Green ribbons extend down the elevations and across the courtyard to integrate the elements around shared public realm. This is treated as an external room with trees, bands of soft planting and an external water feature.

Commercial functions populate ground floor areas and basement parking is provided.

The proposal constitutes the latest project in a rapidly developing quarter, keeping good company with Elder and Cannon’s City Mission and Make architects 220 Broomielaw.
