Boskabelle redevelop Little France manse
Edinburgh Royal Infirmary is to welcome new neighbours in the form of a self contained village of sheltered apartments, health centre and care home from developer Boskabelle.

The development is sited on the derelict Edmonstone estate in Little France, adjacent to a planned private hospital from Allan Murray architects.

Amenity is to be created by opening up woodland walks and enhancing former gardens of the estate by restoring stone dykes, gateways, lodges, ha-ha structures and a stable block.

Go ahead for the scheme is expected to be given by councillors and ministers despite concerns over encroachment upon the green belt.

Edinburgh’s ageing population has been cited as a factor weighing in the schemes favour.  Statisticians project a 57% increase in the number of older people requiring intensive care over the next decade, as the number of people over 65 increase by 13%.
