Bo'ness expansion to deliver a new neighbourhood

Falkirk Council has awarded planning consent for hundreds of new homes south of Bo'ness in what is billed as a new neighbourhood for the town.

CALA Homes with Barton Willmore will build 226 homes, 34 of which will be affordable, including a range of terraced, semi-detached and detached properties arranged around a walkable shared space grid.

Groundworks will commence this autumn with the first homes completing a year later, each incorporating fully electric air source heating and electric vehicle charging points. Additional features will include multi-use paths linking the John Muir Way to Linlithgow Road and a shop on Crawfield Road.

Michael Clements, land manager at Cala Homes (West) said: “This new development will enhance and complement the vibrant community of Bo’ness, future-proofing the area with homes built to the highest standards of sustainability and energy efficiency. Importantly, it offers a range of housing options, thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of residents at every stage of life.”

A new park will also form part of an urban wildlife strategy for the site, including trails, woodland and meadows.

Creating a mugger's alley in the south of the site is not much of a surprise (classic volume builders way to do things) , but when you do it along the main road too, you got a problem.
Are those SUDS ponds or pocket parks? Either way, they couldn't be less strategically placed.

#3 - CALA will likely partner with a local housing association for the affordable housing, so it might be worth contacting them - enquirieswest@cala.co.uk - and the local council's housing dept. to ask whether the HA is already in place.

The real story here is about an ever growing town with zero facilities due to the council's incompetence. Falkirk Council happy to take rhe rates and taxes but not invest in local infrastructure unless its a road crossing amd traffic lights that aren't needed.

Some of these new builds are 650k. They are building out into Linlithgow now. The council just closed the only sports centre in Bo'ness. Schools are full. The only thing is abundence in Bo'ness is the fast food takeaways.
