Cumbernauld office block falls in a town centre renewal drive

The revitalisation of Cumbernauld town centre has taken more tangible form with the demolition of Fleming House, an aged former government office block on Tryst Road.
Contractor Beattie has employed remote-controlled demolition equipment to bring the concrete shell down safely from top to bottom, with 94% of all waste material recycled into sand and stone chips.
Council Leader Councillor Jim Logue commented: "Our vision for Cumbernauld aims to deliver a town centre, which will drive a new sense of place and community ownership.
“The demolition of Fleming House signals the start of our ambitious plans for the transformation of Cumbernauld Town Centre – it’s great to see that this first phase of work is nearing completion.”
The site is being cleared as part of a 15-year masterplan to bring new education, health, leisure, and transport facilities to the town centre. This includes demolition of The Centre, an iconic brutalist shopping mall.

They proved they're not interested, they then sold the centre on to God knows who, and they have ignored the problems and let it fall into major decline. The best thing about this town is the road out.
