Brownfield land underpins North Lanarkshire's affordable housing drive

North Lanarkshire Council has lodged plans for 33 affordable homes at a brownfield site in Newmains.

The 1 hectare site at Newton Drive was formerly occupied by St Brigid's Primary School, recently relocated to a £20m community hub.

To be delivered by McTaggart Construction with Oliver & Robb Architects, the new homes are to be finished in concrete facing brick and tile.

Conceived under the local authority's New Supply programme, which seeks to build 6,000 new homes across the region by 2035, the latest batch of homes is expected to move on site next year.

The property mix will include cottage-style homes and terraced residences.

Thumbs up to some nice big living room windows but thumbs down to the view being of your car on the driveway in front of your window.
